MeetHippity Hop & Cotton Top, two real alpacas that live in the Ballandean bush in Queensland, Australia, who find radiant shoes and start a dance of delight.

Hippity Hop is black, named after her cute way of kicking up her heels and running. Cotton Top is white, named for the fluffy puff of hair on the top of her head. Two alpacas that already had so much potential to be cool!
And so it begins:
Each morning in their paddock, when they wake up, they stretch this leg out, then that leg out, until all four legs are stretched out.
Standing tall, they look around. They can see far into the distance; their eyesight is that good.
One morning, they both spotted a glint of light shining from the scrub over yonder. Hippity Hop kicked up her back legs and bolted toward it, with Cotton Top close on her tail. As they ran, their heads and long necks leaned forward, eyes locked on the shimmering glow through the trees.
Getting closer, they slowed down cautiously. Breathing quietly, they peered through the thick leaves. They looked at each other sideways with a glance that said, "What could this be?"
The luminescence flickered just enough for them to see it.
✨Shoes! Four radiant pairs. One for each of their legs. What magic! What marvellous delight!
They’d heard about these from a cousin on a nearby property and knew exactly what to do. They slipped them on, and ohhh… did they feel comfortable. They especially loved the colours.
With a twist and a clap, they trotted off to show their mates, heads held high in their own glorious style.
They floated over rough rocks like it was nothing. When they reached the far paddock, where their friends the wild rabbits, sweet Willy Wagtails, and sunbathing lizards hung out, the crowd gathered. Word spread fast.
Hippity Hop and Cotton Top were surprised too when, quite abruptly, their feet, in their playful shoes, began to dance. Not just a shuffle, but a full-body hip-hop groove! Their alpaca torsos swayed and dipped. Heads bobbing, feet dancing. They’d never moved like this before.
Soon, animals from everywhere came to see what was happening. Mister Goanna waddled up slowly from his hole. Mouse families felt the commotion and left their breakfast behind. Even Mrs Possum woke from her sleep, yawned, and peeked out from her tree trunk, and Master Owl opened one curious eye from a branch above.
The ants paused their work and turned to look. Even the Great Dragonfly Mistress herself, with her silver-blue wings shimmering, flew by and landed nearby to watch.
🎶 What a show.
Suddenly there was a loud ruckus that stopped the show. It was the local Sulfur-Crested Cockatoo gang, weaving awkwardly through the trees, squawking and flapping. They landed in the branches above, wings spread wide, and joined the crowd watching below.
Everyone clapped, chirped, hooted, or squeaked for Hippity Hop and Cotton Top to keep dancing, and let the shoes move them with magic.
Even the horses from next door popped their heads over the fence.
Eventually, Hippity Hop and Cotton Top slowed down, grazing peacefully once more, their friends gathered around, chatting and laughing.
Everyone wanted a pair. Even the cockatoos! (Though they soon realised it might be hard to fly wearing them…) Still, they encouraged everyone on the ground to try a pair.
So much fun. They announced there were so many designs to choose from, as they’d seen them before, moving through the neighbourhood like whispers of colour and delight.
Hippity and Cotton grazed happily, their feet cushioned on rocks and sticks, across slopes and bindies. They hadn't known they could feel this good.
If you ever drive by, you might just catch a glimpse of them, flashing their original style, dancing among the trees, surrounded by a circle of friends cheering them on, all wearing their own magical shoes with their own style.
With big smiles on their alpaca faces and their newfound community of friends, in comfort and style, they knew one thing for sure:
